“The Flower of the Rose Blooms in profusion in the World of Chaos”
I love this quote. Where did you find this? I have been searching for the origin of this phrase (and this is how I found your blog posting)
Hope to hear from you
well, here I am 6 years later! Answering your Question. mañana, mañana.. yes, I am now in South America! About to begin making yet another Garden. I thought I might start to blog again, since I’ve moved to a country where I don’t as yet, have Spanish and will make a GArden in a climate that is also foreign to me. What do you think? I wonder if you are still reading blogs? I think the quote you asked about was a version of …. The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest ´attributed to Mulan.
Yes. My interest in the ‘chaos rose’ came from a journal/notebook some friends gave me on my birthday in January of 2014. The cover has this quote printed on the cover: “The Flower of the Rose Blooms in profusion in the World of Chaos.” Thechaosrose became my handle on Instagram. Later on I became curious about the origin of the quote and my search led me to your blog. The book was given to before the date stamp on your blog post so I assume you quote came to you from…somebody or somewhere? I would be interested to know where you found it, if you remember. Or maybe I am mistaken?
My life has changed immeasurably in the six years since I delivered my original question. In late Spring 2017 I met a lovely woman from S America (Ecuador) who is now my wife. In 2019 we made a home together and I started a garden behind it. No roses in the garden, but I’ve thought about the quote often. The relate very much to the metaphor I found within it. Gardening has been my refuge during some very chaotic times within my personal life.
You asked ‘What do you think?’ — in relation to what exactly? Gardening in a foreign land? I think that perhaps it is the best way to get to know your new place in the world.
Have you seen the new Paul Schrader film, ‘Master Gardener’? I was fascinated by it.
Best, Tyler

the web page, that’s what this web page is providing.
I will never understand why people want to kill each other, but especially so in beautiful places. I guess they want to possess those places, or hang on to them, but in so doing destroy the beauty.
Your word-painting of Sarajevo makes it sound one of the most idyllic places on the Earth. I love to imagine the Catholic bells ringing alongside the Moslem calls to prayer. Long may the people of that city enjoy peace.
So Evocative ! Thank you for taking me there. xx
Michael,Thankyou! I’m happy you enjoyed the trip…am working on another blog, being afar is so inspiring!
Your lovely writing brought me back to sarajevo esp.the roses and fountain there, the colours and smells. The old caravanserai is just the shell now next to the old old shopping mall, the world’s oldest?what about all those lovely shops selling tea sets and souvenirs.they remind me of Istanbul.I love the many wild flowers growing on the stony banks of the river and bridges.
Thank you, Singaroo…yes SO many things to remember. Yes the rest of caravanserai is the walkthrough market with stalls of so many varieties..I didn’t know it was the world’s oldest…maybe.
